Anneli Lofgren

Something to know about my approach is:

There is no one way to go about therapy. Most people I meet with have never experienced therapy before. The most important thing for you to know about your first session with me is that forming trust with anyone takes time! Comfortability doesn’t come right away, but all you have to be concerned with is showing up and being yourself as I handle the rest. Therapy is like the path of a train – some of the tracks meander and sometimes the train has to change tracks but the train is always moving!

Together we will,

find the approach that will work best for you, especially if you already have an idea of what you’re looking for in this experience. Consider that you are the expert in your own life and I am there simply as a guide. I will never know more about your life than you but as we partner together we will make strides toward your goals.

I specialize in working with people who,

are interested in healing their childhood/adolescent trauma, want to build closer relationships to those most important to them, and/or want to figure out their purpose in life. My expertise is centralized towards those dealing with anxiety, panic, depression, PTSD, and ASD. Most of my clients are adolescents or adults but I have extensive background in working with children. I also have a preference for helping couples improve their communication and intimacy. Further, with being a first-generation American to a Salvadorean mother and Swedish father, I understand the necessity for culturally-sensitive interventions which is an approach I am honored to implement in sessions as well as offering sessions in Spanish when needed.

I became a therapist because

I became a therapist because I discovered a knack for developing interpersonal connections. Hearing a person’s life story is a personal joy of mine. I realized ever since childhood, I was drawn towards the ostracized, reserved, and quirky individuals because I related most to them. Everyone deserves to feel cared for and heard. It is my privilege to provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment.

I typically use a CBT approach that will allow us to make connections between your thinking, feeling, and behaving. In my work, I believe it is always important to research and find ways to improve one’s practice. I love to learn and if I don’t know the answer to something, I will always research to figure it out! I tend to place a large emphasis on how emotions can navigate a person’s life when there is much of reality that is or has been skewed. There is newer research focused on this emotion-focused approach that I am continuing to learn more about that one day I hope to include in my “belt of knowledge”.

What my clients say:

“What can be said except I am beyond grateful to have Ms. Anneli as my therapist. I can honestly say I look forward to our sessions every week. It is really so easy to not only speak but be vulnerable with her as well. In our time together I can reflect and see how much growth I have made. She is kind, welcoming, filled with grace, patient, informative, and just an overall beautiful soul. If it weren’t unprofessional I’d make her my best friend. I’m excited to continue to grow as a human with her assisting me.”

“Anneli is thoughtful, kind, and responsive. She encourages us to share what we need from the process, and then works to help us get there.”

“My sessions with Anneli Lofgren have been such a wonderful experience. She cultivates a safe space and provides me with resources to help me improve along my journey.”
